Sideman privacy policy
Sideman ("the app") is a backing band in your pocket by flamedots, an independent studio run by one person (formerly PixelAI Lab). It works without an account, and everything you make stays on your phone. The free version shows ads; Sideman Pro, a one-time purchase, removes them and unlocks more of the app.
In short
- No account, no sign-in. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- What you make stays on your device. We cannot see it.
- The app sends no usage analytics and no crash reports.
- Without Pro, Google AdMob shows ads and collects data to do so. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked first.
- Purchases go through Google Play or the App Store, checked by RevenueCat with an anonymous ID.
What stays on your phone
Your grooves, loops, patterns, saved jams and settings are stored on your device only. The app does not upload them. Files you export (audio, MIDI, loops) go where you choose in your phone's save dialog. Your phone's own backup (Android backup to your Google account, iCloud or device backup on iPhone) may include the app's data, under your account's settings; we have no access to it.
Microphone and Bluetooth
The current version does not use the microphone or Bluetooth, although its install lists them for features still to come. If a later version adds one, it will ask your permission first, process the sound on the device, and this page will say so.
Usage data
Sideman does not collect usage analytics or crash reports. The "Share anonymous usage data" switch in Settings has nothing to send in this version.
Ads (Google AdMob)
Without Pro, the app shows a banner ad at the foot of the Settings tab and in the Library list, never over the jam. Where it is offered, you can choose to watch a rewarded ad to use Pro for a limited time.
To choose and show an ad, measure it and prevent fraud, Google AdMob collects your device's advertising ID, your IP address (and from it an approximate location), information about the device and the app, and how you interact with the ad. Google may use it to personalise ads, as described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the app asks for your consent through Google's consent message before any ad loads, and you can change your answer in Settings, "Ad privacy choices". Anywhere, you can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your phone's settings. Buying Pro removes the ads.
Purchases (Google Play, App Store and RevenueCat)
Sideman Pro is a one-time purchase made through Google Play or the App Store, which handle the payment; we never see your card or payment details. The app uses RevenueCat to check purchases, restore them on a new phone and grant Pro after a rewarded ad.
RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID it creates for this installation, the purchase (product, time, price) and its store receipt, the app version and operating system, and, through its AdMob adapter, ad events (an ad loaded, shown or tapped, and its revenue) and the ID of a rewarded ad you watched. It receives no name or email address. See revenuecat.com/privacy.

We do not sell your data, and we do not receive any of the above in a form that identifies you.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Your choices and deleting data
- Delete any saved item from the Library. Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored on the phone.
- Change ad consent in Settings, "Ad privacy choices" (where offered), or in your phone's ad settings.
- Data already sent is held by Google and RevenueCat under their policies. Because the app has no account, we cannot link it to you; if you want help with a request to them, write to us.
Changes
When the app changes what it collects, this page changes with it and gets a new date above.
